Audio Grabber free download works well for most applications. I use it to copy CDAs to mp3 files. I can compress it a lot for speech or judt a little for good music. I can choose mono or stereo as needed. No use copying my 78s in stereo or using much past mid bit rate for something that wasn’t there in the first place.

A hard drive camcorder is a good choice, however I prefer either a tape model (making it easy to do a shoot and giving the tape to someone else for editing) or one of the newer camcorders that use a chip instead of tape. This is the newest technology.

Yes, I need a “Movie Maker” course. I still have questions concerning the audio and video/stills intergration. Also, I have problems produceing a playhable(on a DVD player) product.
Your Sat. morning secession are greatly missed.

Al,

1. “Burning” – Movie Maker will make a video file (e.g., .wmv, .avi) which can be “burned” to a CD or DVD. But this disc will not auto-run (like a retail VCD or DVD) on a set-top player connected to a TV. This disc must be opened on a computer in order to view the video content. You must use some other software title to create the auto-running (retail-like) disc.

Some more expensive or recent DVD set-top players will play certain video files (e.g., .wmv or .mov) on either a (read or rewriteable) CD or DVD by virtue of the working relationship between the video software maker (e.g., Microsoft or Apple) and the DVD set-top maker (e.g., Philips or Memorex). This is becoming more common (i.e., more affordable).

2. Menu making – Movie Maker does not support making a menu so that you can view, separately, two or more titles on a DVD like a retail DVD. You must use some other software title to do this.

I would very very much like to attend such a class. I don’t understand your comment however “Windows Movie Make has no menu or “burning” capability”. Their site says they can store on CD and CD/RW. are you saying they can’t or something more technical I don’t understand? Also does their statement mean not to DVD? Thanks great work you do.

I bought a used sony cassette recorder EV C-100 for $200 from a used camera/repair shop in Dickenson. It records straight onto my DVD recorder.Perhaps you could find one on E-Bay. It is very simple and easy to use with great quality.
